Have you ever received an error message, “Page not found” while browsing on the internet?

It looks as if there is some problem in the internet connection therefore you might begin checking your modem and the connection but most of the times it is not a problem with your internet connection but your IP address.

Often, this “Page not found” problem can be solved by refreshing your IP address which is also termed as to “Renew your IP address.

Renewing your IP address is quite simple and this tutorial is written in order to give you a step by step guidance in solving above mentioned problem.

Step-by-Step Guide to Renew your IP Address

Step 1

Click on “Start” Button and then click on “Run” which could be found in the options menu.

Once the run window is open, type “cmd” in the space and then hit “OK.” A window with command prompt, this resembles the old Disk Operating System (DOS).

Type “ipconfig /release” and then press “Enter.” This releases computer’s current IP addresses, these are the address with which a computer logs on to the internet and participate in sharing of packets of data.

Step 4

Now type “ipconfig /renew” and press “Enter.” This action would renew your IP address therefore if there was some problem in creating a connection between your computer and internet that would be solved.

Step 5

Type “Exit” and then press “Enter” on your keyboard. Now you are connected to the internet with a new IP address.

Some tips to keep in mind

Tip 1

If above steps don’t improve your internet connectivity then remove the RJ-45 jack from modem or router, re-install it after 5 minutes and then repeat these steps again.

Tip 2

The DOS command “ipconfig” reveals the IP address with which your computer is interacting with the internet. But if you are using more than one internet connections on your computer like one wireless connection and the other LAN internet connection then this command might not unveil all the IP address with which your computer might be accessing the internet therefore use “ipconfig /all” instead.

    EMD once i opened the run screen… but i get this response -

    “windows cannot find ‘EMD’ make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.

    am i doing something wrong?

  2. okay.. i am so blind.. i tried it again with the correct prompt, and went through the stept, but it says – no operation can be performed on local area connection while its media is disconnected
    whats this mean?
