Although most people like to read their books in physical format but the number of people interested in electronic books (eBooks) is rising steadily.

  • Instant Delivery: You can buy the books from internet and they are delivered to your mobile phone or eBook Readers almost instantly.

Hmm… these are just a couple of highlights that answers the question, “Why are people moving from physical books to electronic books?”

Guide to Get Free eBook from a Library

Step 1: Move out of your home and walk into the nearest library. Most libraries have a membership system and offers digital books to its members too.

So, the first step is to get a membership card from your local library that offers digital textual and audio books.

Step 2: The next step is to download the Overdrive Media Console Application (http://www.overdrive.com/software/omc/). Overdrive application is a multi-platform app and is available for Android, Windows, Mac, BlackBerry, iOS4 and WP7.

This Overdrive Media Console App would be your personal eBook reading application similar to Amazon Kindle.

Download this application from the link listed above and install the application on your device.

Step 3: Once installed. Open the app -> Click on “Get Books” and then click on “Add a Website”.

This would ask you to select your library. Once you find your library, choose the appropriate library system. This would help you in keeping a track of which books are available and which books would be available after sometime.

Step 4: Now browse for your favorite books and if they are available you can download it easily from the download options given on the page of your books.

When you find the copy of your book, click “add to card” and “checkout”. The system would ask you to enter your library card number and the eBook would be issued for free.

The download would begin automatically and this downloaded eBook would automatically start running on the installed Overdrive Media Console App.

Note: Most Libraries have limited licenses for each eBook so it is possible that your favorite twilight books might not be available.

All the books are issued for a period of 14 days and most library system have a waiting list so if your favorite books have many people on waiting list… then you might have to think of getting that eBook from a different source.

Well, this is the best way to get latest eBooks for free but you would have to wait.
