Verizon drops unlimited data plans, switches to tiered plans

Verizon switches to tiered plans from unlimited data plans with paid tethering

A Verizon insider had spread the news that Verizon Wireless might drop their most popular unlimited data plan from this July and he was not joking at all.

In the new Verizon brochure, it is mentioned that new users won’t have the option to opt for unlimited data plan, they would have to stick to tiered monthly fees ranging from $10 for 75MB up to $80 for 10GB.

There is another bad news, if you use internet tethering a lot (creating your phone/tablet as a Wi-Fi hotspot and let others use internet from your connection) then you would have to pay additional $20 for using the service further.

If you are on a 4G network, the price for tethering permission is $10 more i.e. 30 bucks.

It seems that Verizon Wireless has not dropped unlimited data plans from their 4G network, by paying $30 extra for 4G tethering, you can enjoy unlimited internet, sound great? Isn’t it a good enough reason to switch from a 3G phone to fast, dual-core 4G phone?

What do you have to say about this decision made by Verizon Wireless? Leave a comment down below with your reply. Thanks.
