Sprint packing unlimited data plans for “iPhone 5” customers

It is confirmed and it is official that Apple is going to launch their next generation of Smartphone – iPhone 5 in October this year. Bloomberg is backing up Wall Street Journal’s story that Sprint would be third network provider for Apple iPhone 5, and that’s not all, while other networks have moved from unlimited data plans to a tiered model, Sprint is still offering unlimited data plans for iPhone 5 consumers.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) will offer Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone next month with unlimited data service plans to distinguish itself from rivals AT&T Inc. (T) and Verizon Wireless, according to people familiar with the matter.

Both AT&T and Verizon, the two earlier associates of iPhone 5 had offered unlimited data plans in the beginning but later shifted to tiered plans, although they have not cancelled the unlimited data plans of existing users which means that those who had subscribed to AT&T and Verizon’s unlimited data plans get to enjoy the services, unless their plan expires.

It is possible that Sprint is offering this unlimited data plan service just to lure people into buying iPhone 5 with their network and thus Sprint may also move to a tiered network plan once people have purchased cell phone from them.

As of now, Sprint is the only network that is proving unlimited data plan service with Apple iPhone 5.

What do you think is a better deal? An unlimited data plan from Sprint or a tiered pricing plan from AT&T and Verizon?
