HP’s Tablet Journey comes to an end, TouchPad up for Sale with massive discount

HP discontinues PRE & VEER Tablet PCs, TouchPad up for Sale

HP has decided to clear out their stock of Palm webOS-based TouchPad Tablets which failed to give HP the results which were expected from them. The 16GB version which was earlier available for $399/- is available for $99/- while the 32GB version which was earlier sold for $499/- is available for $149/- on HP’s official website and other online stores including PC Richard, Target, Sam’s Club, Office Depot, Walmart, MicroCenter, Fry’s etc.

This announcement followed HP’s decision to stop producing more webOS based Tablet PCs PRE and VEER. It seems that the company has realized that webOS Tablet PCs doesn’t stand a chance against Android and iOS Tabs.

Palm webOS is not a very bad operating system, it has a dedicated app store too (though I am not sure whether HP has decided to discontinue that as well), TouchPad is not a bad Tablet either, it’s just that, it’s not that competitive, and apt for market. If you want a cheap Tablet for accessing internet and enjoying multimedia, I would say bag this deal right away.
