Severely Dangerous Reasons Why I Deactivated My FB Account

Reasons why I deactivated my Facebook

Facebook is cool, it connects people from different countries together but after some time it can become an addiction and that is the prime reason why I deactivated my Facebook account.

It was a little tough decision because I had so many friends and fellow bloggers on Facebook and I used to gain several tips for my own blogging through their blog posts.

I usually followed people who are sincerely interested in blogging and posted good content via which I could improve my blog but I think I just needed to believe in my writing and everything changed.

Today, nearly 3 weeks have passed since I last accessed my Facebook account and I proud to say that I have overcome the addiction of Social Network.

Are you an Addict?

It is very important to understand when things go beyond their acceptable range. You might feel that using x amount of Facebook and Twitter is fine but it may be more than what is necessary.

How many times do you check your Facebook account?

My Facebook used to get opened on my computer randomly, obviously I was opening it but I didn’t realize I was it was something hypnotically strange.

I recently wrote an article which contained some of the symptoms that we often find in Facebook Addicts. You can take that Quiz or whatever you may call it and get to know yourself first hand.

Anyhow, it is very important you don’t lose yourself to your online identity because the ‘You’ on internet is not the real you, it is just a glimpse and a glimpse can take over the real person in some severe cases.

As it is said, “Wu Gi Pi Fan” i.e. Excess of everything is bad thus you must take note of the time Facebook is consuming.

My Problems with Facebook and How I kicked it off

These are some of the problems that I faced with Facebook that eventually propelled me to deactivate my Facebook account.

Facebook is cyber hell; you don’t know when you come and when you go. It consumes hell lot of time and I was not able to understand how come my projects and homework were left undone.

You tend to forget the real you. I wasn’t interacting much with my friends in person because I used to chat with them on Facebook. It may sound crazy but Facebook truly propels social isolation.

I was not able to cope up my studies because once or twice in a week when many of friends were online I wasted numerous hours chatting i.e. non-productive gossiping.  L

These were some of the minor problems.

The Biggest Blunder

The biggest Blunder came on 5th January 2011 when I was not able to perform well in my Chemistry Practical examinations because I was using Facebook till late night and gave minimum amount of time to studies.

It was the event that made me quit Facebook, I deactivated the account and haven’t opened it since then.

I don’t hate Facebook and will build a better social network, a new social network on Facebook sometimes in the future.

I think you should consider whether the advent of internet and social networking websites nurturing your real life or destroying it.

What do you about Facebook, is it really something that has improved our social connectivity or have created severe rifts in relationships?
