Facebook, Twitter harmful in every way!

Social Networking is Ironical in it’s name because it doesn’t bring people closer but creates big gaps in relationships with people who really matter the most in our life Parents and Family. Spending lumps of time sitting in front of computer screen is not going to get you friends but living with them sharing happiness and spreading the joy does that. Facebook, Twitter etc. are good but not better!

The rift sometimes expands and can’t be solved with any efforts. There are many side-effects of staying stuck to social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter etc. and Five most Deadly side-effects follow this paragraph.

Disclaimer: Deadly here just means bad and not the dictionary meaning. Wizard Journal doesn’t promote any fear against Social Networks.

Facebook can cause trouble because…

1) It can degrade school Performance

bad-grades-at-schoolA research conducted in United States over several children proved that students who use Facebook, Twitter and other social networking websites excessively had a low attention span and thus score low grades.

Facebook should be used constructively but not like elixir without which you can’t survive. Additction to anything is bad, Facebook is addictive.

2) It can get you “fired”

you-are-firedTake me lightly, play some FarmVille or Texas Hold ‘em Poker in the office and you will see the result. A pink slip despite of a promotion. I know how badly you miss your relatives… i know… :| but during work Facebook should be avoided.

Recently, a research revealed that an more than 72% employees in every company spent 1-1.5 hours on Facebook, Twitter and other Social Networks during work.

3) It is bad manner to not show up

feeling-lonely-insideJust saying “Happy Birthday” or “Happy Marriage Anniversary” is not enough, being present with family and friends during rough conditions matters more than anything else.

You might disagree but Facebook is depriving you of society and social bonding. It may seem fun but is addictive and thus ought to be used in limit.

4) It is unhealthy to stay up all night long

Staying-up-all-Night-longFacebook is not the right place to seek new friends that could be there for you when you need them, yes it develops connection but not the one which we need, therefore communication with real people who live in your locality, study at coaching and work in following cubicles in much more important.

Leaving living God’s biggest gift for internet is not at all a good idea or decision. I think we should limit access to Facebook rather than saying that stop Facebook or “never ever use it”.

5) It’s Dangerous to show everything!

no-privacy-facebookIt is good if you want to share all your data, you birthday and latest pictures with strangers, but what if…? you know? what you are risking? … :(

Yeah i know that Facebook has privacy setting but when hackers can get your account password in a moment how long do you think it would take them to break security? What if… by fate your name spoils on the web for something you have no idea about, it sounds crazy but you never know.

Final Conclusion:

I have no right to tell you waht to do and what not to do, i can just say… as a friend that Social Networking Websites are great, Facebook is ultimate and Twitter is like your virtual world but excess of everything is bad! don’t use SNS like mad men!

I remember a time when i was playing more than 17 social games including Farmville and update my status even at 4 in the morning.

Life is to live, there are thousands of things waiting for us in the real world.

  6. Facebook is totally a crazy place to be as there are so many, so many things that can consume every time that you have.

    • Undoubtedly, it has a full fledged trap for you, there apps, then friends then group and pages, you go there start reading, chatting and 2 hours gone.

well, in limit it can do wonders. What say?

  7. Excellent analysis Rakesh.
I am 200% agree with these type of side effects of Social networking and we must take care of it.

this is a good article, but the problem is so much larger than what its being painted as here. Texting and social networking: these are applications that are leading us away from our hummanity. Im affraid to think about what the future is when it comes to these areas. I honestly see this texting as the deevolution of man. it needs to be stopped. technology is shaping our world into something ugly.

    • Hi John,

People who spend most of their day on Facebook really piss me off not because of the site but they are wasting their life on a website making virtual friends… and stuff… it is just so absurd.

      • I was really carried away with this social networking thing.I almost had 6-7 of friends whom i use to chat with regularly..
But now i realise of wasting my time because of my low grades!!
        :(
But now even though i do facebukin i keep myself offline..
        :)

  10. everything you share is true.

  11. Nice article, I think Facebook is quite of a waste-of-time.

Many people think that they can get their love on f.b bt it’s impossible, any male can cheat u by making a female’s f.b,i also did so to feel it bt i didn’t cheat anyone,so dont fall in f.b’s love n dont waste ur time on f.b

  13. ya,its true that SNS can waste our time.but what important is time management and self discipline…..aside that sometimes we ure ourselves through SNS.

  14. Nothing was sourced and 69% of it was made up, it is one person’s opinion and that person has no knowledge of technology or the web. Social networking is not the devil the author made it out to be. I will break down the blog real quick. 1) Their are more problems with the American school system then social networking, almost every one uses a sns just because the grades are down does not mean it’s the internet fault. 2) If you are spending all your work time playing on the computer, does not matter the site, you deserve to be fired. 3) Family and friends can be all around the world it’s still nice to hear when they are thinking of you. When I was in Afghanistan with the army the best days were hearing from friends and family through Facebook. 4) Doesn’t make any sense your header was about staying up all night then you talk about not killing Facebook??? 5) You have no knowledge of the internet; Security does not really exist and it’s black hat hackers that you need to be worried about. Please use proper English I not “i”. I think you posted this blog too soon with out proof reading it and with out researching the topic properly.

    • Hey Joe,

I was talking about my personal experiences, this blog post isn’t an imposition, you can disagree if you want. Social Networking has pros and cons and I listed the major cons. There are several benefits of SNS and that’s why it is existing today.

      Thanks for commenting…!

But I feel, using too much Facebook can sometimes lead to above mentioned scenarios.

      - Rakesh

  15. I think that excess use of SNS will make you lack in confidence to face the people in Real World.
