Electronic Arts is on a roll, their latest sports game FIFA 12 is selling hot on all the three platforms viz. PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. On UK’s weekly all-formats charts, it has been ranked #1, #2 and #2 for past three weeks respectively.
When EA was asked about the numbers, they revealed FIFA 12 has sold more than 5 million copies combined around the globe. Definitely, it is a big achievement for them, but this is something that is always expected from the sole contender in this genre of gaming.
“FIFA 12 has been remarkable,” said COO Peter Moore on the company’s earnings call yesterday. “Five million consumers purchased this latest iteration so far, the best reviewed sports game of this current console generation.”
In addition, the game is doing “unprecedented levels of online engagement.”
Peter also revealed that EA has hosted more than 271 million online games since the release of FIFA 12 which suggests a 105 percent growth as compared to last year. Fans of FIFA 12 are playing 94 million minutes per day on average (now that’s remarkable!).
Now you may wonder why EA does releases a new version of its sports title every single year.
Well, there is a very simple answer to that, every year players are exchanged within clubs and new players are recruited. FIFA series from EA has virtually real looking players which means that players in the game behave as if they were real, their moves in the game are adaption of their real life playing style (isn’t that cool?).
EA FIFA 12 has several new developments over its predecessor, it has better graphics, precision dribbling, tactical defending, smarter opponents, challenging attempts to score, intercept passing, tackling and a lot more.
If you are a FIFA Soccer Fan then there is no reason why you shouldn’t buy this game and the best part is you can play multi-player with your friends or with 5 million strangers connected by “love for the game.”
