Samsung Galaxy SII has been recently launched by Samsung in the Smartphone Market. Unlike its predecessor, it has a dual-core processor, dedicated graphic card and Super AMOLED Plus display screen which makes it a deadly competitor to the undisputed king of Smartphones – iPhone 4.

In this Face-off I am going to compare both these beautiful Smartphones on certain factors and give you some content to think upon when you go out to shell out your money for one of these Smartphones.
Both Smartphones are great if we consider overall performance but if we go in detail, comparing their processor power, camera, graphics, battery life etc. then certainly one of them beats other hands down!
Apple iPhone 4 Vs. Samsung Galaxy SII – The Faceoff!
Form Factor
Samsung Galaxy SII 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49mm in dimensions and weights 117g whereas iPhone 4 is 115.2 x 58.7 x 9.3mm in dimensions and weights 137g.
Verdict: Galaxy SII has a bigger screen size yet it is much slimmer than iPhone 4 and weighs less too. It is quite amazing for massive, loaded phone to have such a slim profile. Undoubtedly Galaxy SII beats iPhone 4 in terms of Form Factor.

Storage
Samsung Galaxy SII comes in two variants 16GB and 32GB and so does iPhone 4 but Galaxy SII also has a microSD card slot with which memory can be expanded up to 64GB (32GB internal + 32GB via microSD card).
Verdict: Both the phones support HD content playback and therefore you would need a lot of storage to keep HD movies. If you love watching entertainment content on your phone like games and stuff then definitely that microSD card slot on Galaxy SII would come handy. This is not a major criteria to choose a phone therefore I would award iPhone 4 with 0.5 bonus points as well.

Display Screen

Samsung Galaxy SII has a screen size of 4.27 inches, display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and Super AMOLED Plus display screen whereas iPhone has a 3.5 inch screen size, 960 x 640 pixels resolution and LCD display screen with IPS.
Verdict: The Super AMOLED Plus screen on Galaxy SII is marvelous, in terms of picture clarity and color contrast it is comparable to iPhone 4’s much hyped Retina Display. Screen size on Galaxy SII is bigger than that on iPhone 4 whereas iPhone 4 has a higher pixel density. The Super AMOLED Plus screen on Galaxy SII is smart enough to adjust its power consumption, thus giving you awesome energy saving. More or less, if you enjoy watching movies, videos etc. both Smartphones would perform equally well, so it’s a draw!
I personally prefer a smaller screen size, 3.5” is perfect but it varies from person to person. This round is a draw.

Samsung Galaxy SII has a powerful battery of 1650mAh while iPhone has battery of 1420mAh.
Verdict: Although 1420mAh can provide up to 10 hours of HD video playback on iPhone 4 but I would still give this round to Galaxy SII because the 1650mAh battery on Galaxy SII is powerful enough to give you battery support for an entire day within which you can watch videos, play games, listen to music, email, access internet and chat with your buddies. In one charge Galaxy SII can do it all.

Processing Power
Powerful Web Browsing on Samsung Galaxy SII
Samsung Galaxy SII runs on a powerful 1.2GHz Dual Core Exynos chip and has 1GB RAM to support multitasking whereas iPhone 4 runs on a Apple A4 processor.
Verdict: Although both Smartphones can multitask pretty well but you can’t expect an iOS device to multitask the way an Android device does. In fact, the 1GB RAM in Galaxy SII comes pretty handy while keeping documents, web browser, email client, Facebook client, Twitter client etc. open in background while playing HD video games or watching HQ movies. Undoubtedly, Galaxy SII wins this round hands down!

Samsung Galaxy SII has a 8MP rear camera and 2MP camera in front for video chat, also it can record videos at Full HD (1080p) resolution whereas iPhone 4 has 5MP camera on its back, VGA on front panel and can record only HD (720p) videos.
Verdict: Do I need to specifically mention a winner for this round? I think you are smart enough to choose a winner for this round. Unless you are a major Apple fan, you would certainly agree with me that Galaxy SII wins this round by a major difference. If you want to own a mobile phone for photography and video recording then Galaxy SII is your best pick.

Application Store or App Store
Loads of Android Apps on Samsung Galaxy SII
Samsung Galaxy SII runs on Android Operating System (v2.3 – Gingerbread) which means that it has access to Android Market that currently has more than 200,000 applications whereas iPhone 4 runs on Apple’s iOS operating system and its app need is powered by Apple Store which currently has about 350,000 apps.
Verdict: Numbers are just superficial, they don’t really make an app store better. You can get all the major apps and games on both the platforms and since major application and games developers make their games and apps compatible with both these operating systems. I have played games on both these platforms and they are pretty nice, you can even get to play many games which are paid on Apple Store for free on Android Market, thanks to Google Adwords (there would be a advertisement open on your screen while you are playing a game). This round is a draw, sorry Apple can’t give you a full point for introducing the concept of dedicated application stores for cell phones.

Price Factor
Samsung Galaxy SII costs $637 (Rs. 30,999 in India) on Amazon.com for the unlocked version while iPhone 4 costs $649 (Rs. 33,500 in India) for the 16GB version and $749 (Rs. 38,500 in India) for the 32GB version.
The Conclusion
I have tried to present my views about the two cell phones in this knockout format, I hope you got loads of information about these cell phones from this blog post. I have personally used iPhone 4 but Galaxy SII seems a lot better in terms of overall usage and everything. You can pick up iPhone 4 for yourself as well, it is not a bad phone but Galaxy SII is better.
The only problem for me in Galaxy SII is its screen size, I feel quite awkward in using gigantic cell phones.

recently i m using Nokia N8 but it is too slow for internet. so kindly inform which one is better iphone 4 or samsung galaxy sII and also mentioned that any software problem may be occured in this cell phone also.
both smartphones have terrific operating systems, smooth as silk. as of web browsing, safari browser is a little better than android’s inbuilt browser, but there are many web browsers which you can download from android market.
I prefer the Android browser. To me, the ability to play flash is important. Despite what Steve Jobs says (and tries to pound the idea into you), a browser without flash just doesn’t feel like a full browser. If you watch videos or play browser games (like many of you facebookers do), you’re pretty much gonna need flash (unless you stick with youtube ofcourse, which both phones will play just fine).
It’s up to you, but personally, I think Steve Jobs jumped the gun when he said flash is too slow to run on phones. These days, phones are as powerful as entry laptops. I bet Apple wants to retract their statement now. I sound biased, I know.. but I feel Steve Jobs tries to predict things too often (although he is right most of the time).
My choice is the Samsung Galaxy S II. I have the Galaxy S right now, but I’m waiting for Galaxy S II to come out so I can get my hands on it. If given two equally equipped devices and asked to choose, I would always pick and Android device, because the device can be easily customized in homescreen appearance and functionality to fit the user’s needs and preferences. In all honesty, once two users get a hold of a Galaxy S or an Galaxy S II and customize homescreens etc, you soon begin to see that no two Galaxy S or galaxy S II phone are alike. Plus the Galaxy S II is a monster of a machine, with a healthy screen size which compensates for loss of screen size everytime the keyboard pops up. The storage expandability further emphasizes it’s ability for personalization. Need I say more? *drops mic and walks away*
