Apple Inc. outperform Nokia by becoming the largest Smartphone producer
Apple’s truly on a roll, on one hand their Mac OS X Lion is drawing media attention and on the other it has overtaken Nokia to become the biggest Smartphone manufacturer in the world (in volume, of course!).
It hasn’t been long since Apple entered the Smartphone market with their iPhone and now 4 years since, it has become one of the most used Smartphones in the world. Due to Nokia’s reluctance in switching from Symbian to more advanced Mobile Phone Operating Systems has made it lose it’s position in the global market.
“Apple was already the biggest smartphone maker by revenue and profits, but the April-June period marked the first time it had surpassed Nokia in volume.” ~ Financial Times
I am sure that Nokia’s position in Smartphone market would improve in coming years because they have decided to shift Symbian on the back burner and inject Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Operating System into their Smartphones, as HP shifted to Palm and RIM to QNX.
But don’t you worry if you are an Apple fan, the iOS 5 has been released and so would iPhone 5 next year to carry on Apple’s legacy.
