A few reasons why you should buy an Android phone and not an iPhone
Popularity of Android mobile phones in increasing rapidly, the graph of Android’s success has take several sharp peaks in recent years probably because of its versatility. People from across the world have poured their love on Android and undoubtedly iPhone has been most affected by that.
Android was not a very big name when iPhone was launched, with more than 100,000 high quality apps on Apple Store, it made sense why people were so excited to get an iPhone. Other than that, one can’t deny that Apple iPhone is a very good gadget but once Android opened its own Market, its success gained momentum.

Now, the situation is that Android is the most popular operating system in the world for Smartphones as well as Tablet PCs. So, today I am going to discuss with you some of the reasons behind this abundant success of Android.
Android is Open Source
Android is an Open Source operating system from Google which means that any company can use it for their devices without paying a single cent to Google whereas other operating systems like Symbian or Windows Phone 7 comes at a price which ranges from $15 to $25.
Since Android is customizable mobile phone manufacturers can create unique user interface for their gadgets. Over these years, several companies have adopted Android for their Tablets and Smartphones, I am not sure about the exact statistics but about 7 of every 10 mobile phones launched in the market in 2010 ran on Android (the actual results may vary).
Android Market
As I said before, one of the highest contributing factor to iPhone’s success was its App store. Just like iPhone, Android also has a dedicated application store with apps for every sort of Smartphone, the last number I remember was 220,000 apps (it must have raised by now).
What’s a Smartphone if it doesn’t have intelligent apps for business, entertainment and connectivity, Android has everything that you may need and thus is very tempting.
Accessing Multiple Apps simultaneously
Multitasking, high quality multitasking can be experience in the latest version of Android for Smartphones (Gingerbread) and Tablets (Honeycomb). Most high-end Smartphones that run Android has powerful processor and high RAM that enables users to access high on RAM apps simultaneously.
It is a great thing, you can listen to music while playing games and the interface would be as Swift as it was before and you can also edit your documents while keeping emails alerts active in the background.
Supports Rich Media Content
Almost all the Android Mobile Phone have support for Adobe Flash. Some high-end Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S2 or Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc have support for Adobe Flash 10.3 that gives them Tablet like web-browsing on their Smartphone.
Most websites today have rich media content like flash work, animation and embedded videos, what’s a web browser that can’t display websites the way they are meant to be displayed.

Flexible Mobile Devices
iPhone comes in just one model and that too costs a mighty Rs. 32,500 ($722) whereas Android comes in a huge range of handsets ranging from as little as Rs. 5,500 ($122) to as high as Rs. 32,000 ($711). By this I am not saying that you can get iPhone like features in a cheap handset but if you want a phone that runs Android operating system, you can get it for 5,500 bucks.
Most of the phones that cost more than Rs. 25,000 ($555) are at par of better than iPhone, you are intelligent enough to guess why people buy Android over iPhone.

Wi-Fi Hotspot
This is a feature that not too many people know about, Mobile phones running on Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher have Wi-Fi Hotspot feature that turns your cell phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot to which other people can connect and access internet.
Choice of Data Carriers
In United States, iPhone comes with AT&T and Verizon while in India it comes with Airtel and Aircel, you cannot choose any other data carrier unless you get in unlocked whereas Android phones work with almost every data carrier there is for example HTC recently launched T-Mobile’s Shadow and Sprint’s Touch in United States and in India you can use Android phone with any network you like.
So, these were some the reasons in favor of buying an Android mobile phone rather than going for an iPhone.

iOS had a bigger market share if you count tablets and iPod touch than android. You should do a little research before writing something.
hey dude,
you should read the post carefully before you make some random comment, iOS may have a bigger market share but who gives a sh*t about that, Android is available in cell phones from every budget, not everyone is capable of spending 35K for iPhone, hence spending less of half of it for a Android Phone makes android much better “Value for Money” device.
What do you have to say about that? huh?
since when have market share made a basis a device to be user-friendly?
He’s talking about Smart phones. And you should research where you left your brain. It’s just a matter of time and Android will rule all. I have an iPhone and just checked out Android at a store 2 mo ago and I was hooked. Everyday people are finding out Android is better and bailing on Apple. I know I did. Android has 55% of the CELL PHONE market and growing which in turn will grow the Android Market. The iPhone is becoming just another phone.
