VLC Media Player is an open-source media player earlier available for platforms including Windows, Mac and Linux. It is one of the few media players that plays almost every audio and video format without the need of additional codecs.
If you are an Android users, then there is a good news for your because CVPCS has successfully compiled a pre-alpha version of VLC Media Player for your Android device.
The pre-alpha version doesn’t support all the Android devices, therefore CVPCS have created two version based on the processing type – NEON and NO-NEON. It is quite simple to know whether your Android device is NEON or NO-NEON.
By using a simple file manager tool like Astro Manager, search your system files and locate the folder /proc/cpuinfo and have a look inside it you would find something like this:-
Processor : ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7l) processor : 0 BogoMIPS : 1597.74 Features : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp thumbee neon vfpv3 CPU implementer : 0x41 CPU architecture: 7 CPU variant : 0x1 CPU part : 0xc09 CPU revision : 2 Hardware : mapphone_CDMA Revision : 0000 Serial : 0000000000000000
In this information page page, have a look at Features line, if you see the word “neon” there, it means that your device would support NEON VLC Media Player for Android, if “neon” is not mentioned there, it means that your device would support NONEON VLC Media Player for Android.
This is just a pre-alpha build so CVPCS is not providing any support for the software.
