CyanogenMod now Officially has half-a-million user base

CyanogenMod reached a user strength of half-a-million

CyanogenMod has reached the milestone of having 500 million people in their user base. CyanogenMod is a aftermarket firmware distribution (basically it is a custom firmware) that lets offers several benefits over the pre-installed firmware including vastly flexible interface and customization, a wider set of new features and significant improvements in performance.

CyanogenMod-6-Android

Team CyanogenMod revealed their stats recently which suggested that approx. 502,364 Android users are having custom firmware from CM on their handsets out which 376,066 were official installs while remaining were installed unofficially (also known as “kangs”).

Major installations came from these Smartphones:-

  • HTC Desire – 70,630
  • HTC EVO 4G – 39,654
  • Motorola Defy – 28,956
  • Nexus One – 26,707
  • Motorola Droid – 21,335

But these numbers look just so minute if we compare it to the overall strength of Android Phones in the world. According to a report recently release by Google, more than 550,000 Android Devices are activated everyday (man, this number game is driving me crazy).

Nevermind, it it still a great achievement for Team CyanogenMod, keep creating awesome custom firmware for Android Phones and Tabs.
