Apple fires another Patent Bow at Samsung; this time in Australia

Apple has successfully managed to shock Samsung in the patent war, this time in Australia. As a a preliminary injunction, a court in Australia banned the sales of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the country. Justice Annabelle Bennet said that features of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 like the touchscreen user interface is too similar to that of the Apple iPad 2.

Samsung plans to seek legal advice on this matter, a recent statement released by Samsung said, “We are disappointed with this ruling and Samsung will be seeking legal advice on its options. We will continue to legally assert our intellectual property rights against those who violate Samsung’s patents and free ride on our technology.” Samsung has tried to tweak its gadgets in order to change the alleged components a little bit but touchscreen being the central part of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, it would be difficult to apply that strategy here.
